Research and Innovation Institute (LRI) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) coordinated the Incentives for Research-Oriented Collaborative Learning Program and Community Service (PPK-PPM UMS) at Siti Walidah Main Building, Monday (6 Dec 2021).

The head of LRI UMS, Dr. Sri Sunarjono, explained that UMS’s position was in receiving the incentive funds issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology which was managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology.

“Thank God, UMS is one of the private universities that received Cluster One incentive funds which will receive a funding award of Rp. 1.9 billion,” he said as written in a press release received by Republika, Monday.

He added that this award is to strengthen MBKM activities. UMS is ranked 5th among private universities (PTS) in Indonesia. And from the information obtained, 110 private universities will get incentives and the amount is according to their respective clusters.

“So even though this incentive has been allocated, we still have to prepare a proposal that contains our performance in implementing the program, so that we can continue to compete,” he added.

This program is only allocated for a short time, only in three weeks. Because on December 31 this must submit a report, then UMS must also act quickly.

“The two main activities are community service, which is a product of research results, where the research can be applied to the community. We will try to picture this implementation before the service is held and after the service so that the progress is clear,” said Dr. Sri Sunarjono.

Then, he continued, the second activity was in the form of research. UMS was asked to picture the impact of MBKM on all UMS students. Later, around 35 thousand students will be used as research objects related to the impact of MBKM on the UMS campus. From the results of the survey, UMS will have the results of reports on conditions in the field of students who take part in the MBKM program.

“Here, it is very important that the results of the survey on the impact of MBKM can be used as an evaluation as well as a recommendation for what the next MBKM should be,” he said.

He hoped that UMS could carry out the MBKM program as well as possible by the provisions and targets imposed by the grantor.
